Gypsy's Garden Free Quilt Pattern by Genevieve Gail
Gypsy's Garden is a rag quilt by Genevieve Gail, with a 42-inch-square version and a 72-by-90-inch twin version. Squares from the Gypsy Garden collection are stacked in three fabric layers and joined with exposed seam allowances. The basic version needs no batting or quilting; an optional heavier version adds batting and quilted Xs to the stacks. Bound edges frame the quilt, while clipped seams become the textured rag edges after washing and drying.

Gypsy's Garden Free Quilt Pattern by Genevieve Gail quilt pattern summary
- Cut the squares for the chosen size and stack them in threes, with right sides visible on the top and bottom. For the optional batting version, add batting as directed and quilt an X through each stack.
- Arrange the stacks in the appropriate rows for the selected size. Join stacks and rows with their bottom sides together so the raw seam allowances remain on top, then bind the perimeter.
- Clip the exposed seam allowances without cutting the stitching. Rinse on the delicate cycle and dry on low heat, emptying the lint trap frequently and fluffing the rag edges as needed.
