Happy Jacks Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day

Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Happy Jacks alternates fussy-cut picture centers with pinwheel centers inside pieced triangular frames. Stacey Day designed the advanced-beginner quilt using Mary Engelbreit prints, with fifteen blocks in each of the two arrangements. The blocks form six rows of five, and a fussy-cut house-print border completes the outside edge. The finished quilt measures sixty-five by seventy-seven inches, while the cutting directions provide two triangle-cutting options to help maintain the direction of the prints.

Happy Jacks Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day quilt pattern summary

  1. Fussy cut the picture centers and house-print borders. Select one of the triangle-cutting options and prepare the remaining squares, strips and bias binding.
  2. Piece the half-square triangles and join them into fifteen pinwheel centers. Surround the pinwheels and picture centers with their specified triangles.
  3. Add the outer frame units to make fifteen blocks of each arrangement. Alternate the blocks in six rows of five, then add the borders with the house motifs correctly oriented.
  4. Layer and quilt the top, trim the extra layers and attach the prepared binding. Miter the corners and hand stitch the binding to the back.
