Hugs and Kisses combines pieced triangle blocks with hearts and circles appliqued onto framed squares. Barbara Campbell’s design uses the Windham Basic Pastels collection and finishes at 39 by 39 inches. Sixteen eight-inch blocks form four rows, enclosed by a narrow inner border and a striped outer border. Fat quarters supply the block fabrics, while paper-backed fusible web holds the heart and circle shapes before their edges are stitched.

- Cut the block pieces and trace the heart and circle templates onto fusible web. Fuse the shapes to the designated fabrics and cut them out.
- Piece the framed-square blocks and the two-color triangle blocks. Fuse the hearts and circles to the framed blocks, then secure their edges with zigzag or buttonhole stitching.
- Arrange four blocks in each of four rows, following the layout. Add the inner and striped outer borders, then layer, quilt and bind using your preferred method.
