Le Chien by Hilary Bobker places an appliqued poodle over a pieced quilt made with Bon Vivant fabrics. The 34.5 inch square design has narrow sashing, a pointed border, a poodle-print border and an outer border with contrasting corner squares. Red and turquoise fabric options are included. The poodle can use needleturn or raw-edge applique, with optional extra batting beneath its fluffy sections and a button or fabric eye.

- Frame the center square with the narrow sashing, then use the point template to piece the alternating pointed border and add its corner squares.
- Add the poodle-print and outer borders with their corner squares. Layer and quilt the background, leaving it untrimmed and unbound for the applique.
- Assemble the poodle pattern, prepare the applique pieces and white background, and arrange the pieces in the illustrated order. Add optional batting beneath the fluffy sections if desired.
- Secure the poodle pieces, add the eye and desired embellishment, stitch the assembled poodle background onto the quilt, then trim and bind.
