Lodden Blooms Free Quilt Pattern by Lucy A. Fazely
Lodden Blooms gives each featured print a large square center enclosed by narrow pieced framing. Lucy A. Fazely designed this advanced-beginner quilt with Lodden and Trellis Palette fabrics by Morris & Co., using fat quarters alongside coordinating yardage. Small corner pieces shape the frames before sixteen blocks are arranged in four rows. Sashing separates the blocks and a wide outer border surrounds the arrangement, bringing the finished quilt to sixty-one inches square.

Lodden Blooms Free Quilt Pattern by Lucy A. Fazely quilt pattern summary
- Cut the large print squares, small corner squares, framing rectangles and sashing pieces. Keep directional prints facing the same way when preparing the block centers.
- Use diagonal corner seams to prepare the framing strips. Add these strips and corner squares around each large center to make sixteen blocks.
- Arrange the blocks in four rows with sashing between and around them. Join the rows, then add the side borders followed by the top and bottom borders.
- Prepare the binding, layer and quilt, and trim the extra backing and batting. Attach the binding with mitered corners and finish it by hand on the back.
