If you would like to order your backing from us, choose this option and we'll add it to your order. Otherwise, be sure to include your backing with your quilt top.

Please Note:
  • Sending your own backing? It should be at least 4" larger than your top on all sides. For standard 42" width fabric, please sew your backing fabric together or purchase our back piecing services.
  • For binding services using minky/cuddle fabric for backing, please send or purchase coordinating cotton fabric for binding.
  • If you have purchased backing fabric in your shopping cart outside of this order form, contact customer service to avoid having it shipped to you.
  • We cannot guarantee that patterned fabric will be matched at seams when sewing backing fabric pieces together.
  • We make every attempt to center backing, but cannot guarantee that it will be perfectly centered after quilting due to shrinkage of the quilt top.

Add on Trimming or Binding
Priority
When we return a quilt to you, we will leave the excess fabric on the edges unless you add on trimming. For an additional $10, we will neatly trim the edge of your quilt and return the excess fabric to you.

If you would also like us to bind your quilt, be sure to include the binding fabric. If no binding fabric is provided, we will use the fabric left over from the backing for the binding if there is enough. Machine stitched binding using a straight stitch is priced at ¢.25 per linear inch and hand stitched binding is priced at ¢.60 per linear inch.

Please Note:
We are unable to bind your quilt with minky, cuddle, or fleece fabric. Thank you for understanding.

Helpful details

Common machine quilting questions.

What does the quilting service include?

Standard machine quilting includes edge-to-edge longarm quilting, batting, and standard thread options. You can choose from simple meanders, florals, feathers, seasonal designs, and other computerized stitch patterns.

How much backing do I need?

Your backing should be at least 4 inches larger than the quilt top on every side. Wide backing fabric is a helpful option when you want a smooth back without piecing seams.

When does the turnaround clock start?

Turnaround begins when your quilt arrives at Missouri Star in Hamilton. Binding, trimming, return shipping, and circumstances outside the quilting queue can add extra time.

Can Missouri Star finish the binding?

Yes. You can add machine or hand binding services during the order flow, or choose trimming if you prefer to finish the binding yourself at home.

Where do I mail my quilt?

Beautiful quilt for a special birthday

The communication was excellent. The quilting designs we had to choose from were some of the best I've seen, and the end product could not have been better! It was thrilling to see my quilt finished! I made the quilt for my great niece's 3rd birthday. It urges her to read and enjoy stories throughout her lifetime. My hope is that she will listen to the stories of others as she reads stories. Hopefully she grows to understand the roll stories play in the world. I can add a photo of the back...

Beautiful quilting that brings joy

I like the beautiful quilting. The pattern had hearts intertwined with vines. I wanted something special for a family member. Yes, she was so happy she burst into tears.

Thank you

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank you for your skill and kindness in expediting the quilting, binding, and shipping of the quilt we made for our mother. She passed while it was in your care. However, due to your understanding and diligence, we were able to have the quilt at her service. It was the centerpiece, as it represented her life. Mom was an avid quilter and wanted it to be completed by your company. The whole experience we had working with MSQ was wonderful and your work is...

My Quilt

I have to admit, I was a bit nervous to pack up my quilt I had spent months making and send it from Pennsylvania to Missouri! I watched a video on Missouri Star's website about how they go about machine quilting and I got the sense that they really care about your creation and I took a leap of faith. I sent the backing fabric along with my quilt. The batting was included in the price of the machine quilting. I selected a design but asked that they choose the color of the thread, I didn't want...

Wonderful machine quilting with fast turnaround

I procrastinated getting my daughter's quilt pieced together and put myself in a bind. Instead of calling in favors to local others or family who have long arm quilting machines, I found Missouri Star Co's. expedited quilting service. I'm very pleased with the machine quilting service; the pattern and thread color was left up to the quilter and they made a wonderful choice for the quilt. My quilt was returned within the two week expedited period, actually before, and I had plenty of time to...

Love MS Machine Quilting ❤️

I just sent off my 4th quilt to Missouri Star. Yes, it takes a little while, but for the custom service it is well worth it. My first quilt was completely assembled by MS and it is very special. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for the long arm as I made many mistakes and doubtful it was square. It came back beautiful! Since then I have made a twin XL college quilt with cuddle and another large one with leaves snd acorns. I just love the anticipation. Always feels like Christmas! Thank you for all your...

After 10 years I am still pleased with the machine quilting/

I love the machine quilting that all of you do for me. I have been sending quilts to you a little over 10 years now! If I have questions or need help from the quilters they are always ready to help. I especially love the little notes they send back about the quilts. ( your prices are the best, too)
