Midnight Fields Free Quilt Pattern by Natalie Crabtree
Midnight Fields is a 66.5 x 78 inch quilt designed by Natalie Crabtree with Sally Kelly’s Sunshine collection. This intermediate strip-pieced project combines a Night Sky background with a border print containing Cream, Chartreuse, Mint, and Indigo sections. Strips are joined into sets, then cut into varying widths and rearranged into twenty-two vertical rows. The border-print colorways flow in waves across the finished top, and Chartreuse fabric supplies the binding around the quilt.

Midnight Fields Free Quilt Pattern by Natalie Crabtree quilt pattern summary
- Cut the four border-print colorways consistently and prepare the background strips. Sew four strip sets in the stated order, alternating background with Cream, Chartreuse, Mint, and Indigo.
- Subcut the strip sets into the listed widths and label each group. Assemble the twenty-two rows from full and partial units, unsewing only where directed to obtain the required sections.
- Check that each row contains thirteen patches and that the fabrics alternate correctly. Arrange the rows vertically in numerical order, confirm the colorways flow across them, and sew the rows together.
- Sandwich the top with batting and backing, baste using your preferred method, and quilt as desired. Bind with the Chartreuse fabric strips.
