Ochre Fields Free Quilt Pattern by Julie Hendricksen
Ochre Fields is an intermediate quilt designed by Julie Hendricksen using her Thimbleweed collection. Three packs of 5-inch squares supply the prints for two block versions, each built from a center square and strips added along two sides. The pieced blocks alternate with plain squares in nineteen diagonal rows, with setting and corner triangles completing the edges. A single border surrounds the 62.5-inch-square quilt. The pattern includes a cutting diagram showing how each precut square supplies its three block pieces.

Ochre Fields Free Quilt Pattern by Julie Hendricksen quilt pattern summary
- Subcut each selected 5-inch square into the center square and two rectangles shown in the cutting diagram. Cut the coordinating strips, plain squares, setting triangles, corner triangles and borders.
- Add the two B strips to the left and bottom of a print center, then add the two matching print strips in the same positions. Repeat the block construction using D for the second version.
- Arrange the two pieced block versions with E squares and F setting and corner triangles into nineteen diagonal rows. Join the rows and trim the center a quarter inch beyond the outer seam intersections.
- Attach the B border strips to opposite sides, then to the remaining sides. Layer, baste and quilt as desired, and bind with C strips.
