Description:

Paper Dolls is a 39-inch-square quilt with built-in pockets for fabric dolls, clothing and accessories. Barbara Campbell’s beginner-level design combines twelve-inch star and center blocks with smaller border blocks using Sheri Marquez’s Paper Dolls collection. The center pocket is divided to hold dolls, while four surrounding pockets store their clothes. Cardstock supports the freestanding dolls, and fusible fleece lets the clothes cling to them; white felt is an optional substitute.

Paper Dolls Free Quilt Pattern by Barbara Campbell quilt pattern summary

  1. Fold and baste the center pocket, stitch its dividing line and add the corner pieces. Piece the triangle units and assemble the four star blocks.
  2. Make the smaller clothes pockets and join them with the star blocks and remaining squares. Add the red-dot borders, then layer and quilt without stitching the pocket openings closed; apply the binding.
  3. Fuse the doll fabric to cardstock and cut the dolls and stand bases. Fuse the clothes to fleece, trim away their tabs and store the finished dolls and accessories in the pockets.
