Pink Standout Star Free Quilt Pattern by Lucy A. Fazely
Pink Standout Star uses large half-square-triangle blocks to create a single star, then surrounds it with a scrappy border and binding. Fat quarters provide the feature fabrics, and the cutting method saves trimmed triangles for the smaller finishing pieces. Directional prints are handled separately in left- and right-leaning blocks so their orientation follows the layout. This advanced-beginner quilt features Pink Palette by Tim Holtz and finishes at 71 inches square, with four rows forming the central arrangement.

- Cut the large squares and strips from the fat quarters and background fabric, keeping the direction of each print visible as you organize the pieces.
- Sew the separately oriented square pairs to make six right-leaning and six left-leaning half-square-triangle blocks. Reserve the trimmed feature-fabric triangles.
- Cut the border and binding pieces from the saved triangles. Arrange the blocks and background squares in four rows and sew the center together.
- Join the varied border strips, attach the borders and prepare the scrappy binding. Layer, quilt and finish the binding around the quilt.
