Porchside Orchard Free Quilt Pattern by Julie Hendricksen
Porchside Orchard is a beginner quilt designed by Julie Hendricksen with Front Porch fabrics by Allison Harris. A fussy-cut cheater-cloth center displays the printed spinning-daisy design, surrounded by a narrow inner border and a wider outer border. Border strips are measured to the assembled center as the quilt grows. The stated finished size is 47 by 62 inches, although the pattern notes that the actual size can vary with the center cut. The outer-border fabric also supplies the binding.

Porchside Orchard Free Quilt Pattern by Julie Hendricksen quilt pattern summary
- Fussy cut the cheater-cloth center a quarter inch beyond the outer printed design, using the spinning-daisy arrangement shown. Cut the inner-border, outer-border and binding strips from the fabric chart.
- Join the inner-border strips into a long strip. Measure the center, attach the side borders, then measure again and attach the top and bottom borders. Repeat that process for the wider outer border.
- Layer the top, batting and backing to form a quilt sandwich. Baste and quilt as desired, then bind with the fabric C strips.
