Rebecca's Lone Star Free Quilt Pattern by Mary Koval
Rebecca's Lone Star builds a large star from strip-pieced diamonds in the Rebecca collection. Mary Koval's design uses five strip-set arrangements, which are cut at a forty-five-degree angle and joined into eight star points. Floral background pieces fill the spaces between the points and the corners. The base quilt measures 48 inches square; optional inner and outer borders can enlarge it to 60 inches square when enough fabric remains after cutting.

Rebecca's Lone Star Free Quilt Pattern by Mary Koval quilt pattern summary
- Cut the fabric strips and arrange them into the five illustrated sets. Sew the sets with the stated seam allowance and cut their angled segments accurately.
- Join one segment from each set to form a large diamond. Make eight diamonds in the same fabric order, then join them into the star while leaving the specified seam ends open.
- Measure and cut the background side triangles and corner squares as directed. Insert them between the star points, sewing outward from the inset corners, then press and trim.
- For the larger option, measure the remaining fabric before making the inner and outer borders. Prepare the reserved binding strips, machine stitch them to the front, and hand stitch them to the back.
