River Stories Free Quilt Pattern by Susan McDermott
River Stories combines star blocks and picture-centered story blocks around an appliqued Mark Twain image. Susan McDermott’s 50-inch-square design uses fabrics from the Mark Twain collection, including prints inspired by the author’s manuscripts, illustrations and personal artifacts. Flying-geese units form the star points, with several stars featuring smaller printed images at their centers. The blocks are assembled in seven-block rows, and a plain border with contrasting corner squares frames the finished patchwork.
