Sea Stars Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day
Sea Stars combines three sizes of star units with foundation-pieced double flying geese. Stacey Day designed this advanced-beginner quilt with Floral Reef fabrics by Tula Pink. Fussy-cut rainbow strips control the color order of the geese, while four-at-a-time piecing makes the separate star points. A central group of stars is framed by twelve larger star-and-geese blocks and additional geese sections. The quilt finishes at 78 inches square with eighteen-inch blocks and rainbow bias binding.

Sea Stars Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day quilt pattern summary
- Print the double-geese foundation at actual size and check its test square. Cut the fabric pieces, separating the six color groups from the rainbow ombré.
- Foundation piece the double flying-geese units with the assigned backgrounds and color order. Join them into their larger units and remove the papers carefully.
- Make the star points four at a time and assemble the small, medium and large stars. Add the plain squares to the specified small stars for the center units.
- Join the center stars in three rows, then combine the remaining stars and geese into twelve blocks. Add these and the separate geese sections around the center.
- Join the rainbow bias binding in color order. Layer and quilt, trim the extra batting and backing, and complete the binding on the back.
