Description:

Seasons of Change arranges large half-square triangle blocks into five rows of four, using Terrain 2.0 fat quarters for its paired colors. Only one triangle from each fabric is needed for the quilt, leaving the remaining pieces for the coordinating pillow instructions. The quilt finishes at 60 inches by 75 inches with Black binding. Two smaller block arrangements, each framed in Black, make matching 22½-inch square pillows with sewn backing panels and pillow inserts.

Seasons of Change Free Pattern by Lisa Swenson Ruble quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut the large squares from the fat quarters and divide each diagonally. Pair the triangles according to the quilt diagram, sew along their long edges, and trim the twenty blocks.
  2. Arrange the quilt blocks in five rows of four and join the rows. Layer the quilt top with batting and backing, quilt as desired, and bind with Fabric A.
  3. Use the remaining triangles for the pillow combinations, cutting smaller blocks from the joined pairs. Sew nine blocks into each pillow center and add the Black borders.
  4. Sew each pillow top to its backing with right sides together, leaving the stated opening. Turn, insert the pillow form, and slipstitch the opening closed.
