Sienna Free Quilt Pattern by Lisa DeBee Schiller
Sienna combines oak-leaf-and-reel appliqué blocks with pieced leaves and paper-pieced acorns in a quilt measuring 54 by 60 inches. Lisa DeBee Schiller's design features her Sienna fabric collection. Six large appliqué blocks, five leaf blocks, and thirteen acorn blocks are joined into seven larger units. Bias stems connect the shapes within individual blocks, while three borders surround the assembled center. The pattern includes block layouts, appliqué templates, and acorn paper-piecing patterns.

- Cut and label the fabrics by block and template designation. Trace the appliqué templates and prepare the paper-piecing patterns and bias stems.
- Piece the leaf blocks from squares and half-square triangles, adding the appliquéd stems. Paper-piece the acorn caps and lower sections, then join them into complete acorn blocks.
- Arrange the oak-leaf-and-reel shapes on the background squares and appliqué them in the chosen manner. Remeasure and trim the six completed blocks.
- Combine the prepared blocks into the seven units and join those units in the illustrated sequence, leaving the indicated seam ends unstitched until the adjoining pieces are fitted.
- Remeasure the center and add the three borders in order. Trim and square the quilt, then layer, quilt, and bind.
