Silk Road Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day
Silk Road combines fussy-cut moth squares with small units made from three-fabric strip sets. Sixteen blocks form the center, separated by sashing and cornerstones, with two borders completing the frame. Stacey Day designed this advanced-beginner quilt using Nocturnal Creatures fabrics by Maria Matos. It finishes at 74 1/2 inches square, with thirteen-and-a-half-inch finished blocks and diagrams showing how to keep the directional motifs aligned while assembling the repeated units.

- Join the segments into the two pieced unit types. Arrange these around the motif squares and sew sixteen blocks, checking print direction.

- Join the binding strips and prepare the backing, then layer and quilt the top. Trim and finish the binding by hand or machine.
