Pieced tulip blocks combine flower, leaf and stem units, with some stems reversed for the layout. Short and long sashing units join the flowers, and diamond-in-square units appear in the horizontal sashing. Four inner borders and an outer border frame the center, giving the project a layered arrangement around its tulip rows.

- Cut and label the fabrics using the chart. Piece the flying-geese flower units, then make the leaf and stem units, including the reversed stems.
- Join the flower and stem units to make the tulip blocks in the specified fabric combinations. Make the diamond-in-square units for the sashing.
- Make short and long sashing units. Combine the short sashing with diamond-in-square units, then alternate those rows with the tulip rows and long sashing.
- Add the inner borders in sequence and then the outer border. Layer the top with batting and backing, baste, quilt and finish with the N binding strips.
