Description:

Stars, Stripes, and Sparkles is a beginner quilt designed by Diane Nagle with the All-American Christmas collection by Whistler Studios. The finished quilt measures 57 by 69 inches. Six framed garland panel blocks alternate with six pieced star blocks. Flying-geese pairs and half-square-triangle corner units create the stars, and the blocks form four alternating rows. Three inner borders and an outer border surround the center, with separate cutting directions for the outer-border fabric.

Stars, Stripes, and Sparkles Free Quilt Pattern by Diane Nagle quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut and organize the fabric pieces by size. Frame the six panel squares with the A strips to make the garland blocks.
  2. Piece the two flying-geese versions and join them in pairs. Make the half-square-triangle corner units, then assemble six star blocks with the center squares.
  3. Alternate the panel and star blocks in four rows, following the two row arrangements. Sew the rows together to complete the center.
  4. Add the three inner borders and then the outer border. Layer the top with batting and backing, baste, quilt and bind with the B strips.
