Sunlit Garden Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day
Sunlit Garden is an intermediate quilt designed by Stacey Day featuring Verona fabrics. Pieced square units form the backgrounds for two appliqued block versions. Each block receives four two-fabric template units, positioned to align with the background seams. Ten of each block version are arranged in five rows of four to make the 56 by 70 inch quilt. The pattern includes a full-size template and lets you use your preferred applique method when attaching the prepared shapes.

- Cut the squares, triangles and template shapes from the chart, printing the template at 100 percent. Sew the A triangles around the B and C center squares to make twenty background units.
- Join E with G template pieces and F with D template pieces. Trim each seam allowance flush with the curved edge so it will not show from the right side.
- Applique four matching template units to each background square using your preferred method. Align their seams with the square’s seams and keep their points inside the seam allowance; make ten of each block version.
- Join the blocks into five rows of four using the layout. Press even rows left and odd rows right, then assemble the quilt top.
- Layer the top, batting and backing, baste and quilt as desired. Bind with H strips.
