Sunrise Sunset Free Quilt Pattern by Diane Nagle quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut the fabric strips, squares, and setting triangles, keeping each fabric identified. Piece the flying geese units and join them with center and corner squares to make the twelve star blocks.
  2. Build the Log Cabin blocks in four rounds around the center squares. Add the small white corner squares as directed and make twenty blocks.
  3. Arrange the star and Log Cabin blocks in diagonal rows with the side and corner setting triangles. Keep all Log Cabin blocks facing the same direction, join the rows, and trim a quarter inch beyond the block points.
  4. Add the inner and outer borders, checking their measurements against the trimmed center. Layer with batting and backing, baste, quilt as desired, and bind.
