- Fussy cut the cheater-cloth center around the printed churn dash layout. Leave the stated allowance beyond the print where needed, following the center cutting diagram.
- Join the inner-border strips, then measure the center and cut the side borders to fit. Attach the sides before measuring and adding the top and bottom borders.
- Join the outer-border strips and measure the bordered center. Sew the side pieces first, then measure and attach the top and bottom pieces.
- Layer with batting and backing, baste, and quilt as desired. Bind with the Navy fabric strips.
