Thirty-six hearts are rotated in a six-by-six arrangement, while matching point fabrics connect across the sashing intersections. A mitered outer border surrounds the center. Sweethearts Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day quilt pattern summary
- Fussy cut the paired heart rectangles and organize the background squares, sashing pieces and border strips. Keep the large and small motifs paired by fabric.
- Sew background squares diagonally across the corners of the heart rectangles, trim and press, then join the matching sections into thirty-six Heart Blocks.
- Make the plain and star-point sashing units and assemble the seven sashing rows. Arrange the hearts in six rows and match the star-point fabrics at each intersection.
- Center and attach the outer borders, then miter the corners. Layer, quilt and finish the edge with the binding strips.
