The Chicken Train Free Quilt Pattern by Jean Katherine Smith quilt pattern summary
- Cut the checkerboard rectangles, applique backgrounds and borders. Prepare mirrored sets of the hen, chick, cart, wheel and ball shapes using the included templates.
- Sew the green and blue pieces into the two checkerboard sections. Applique the two train scenes to their backgrounds, then add the thread work with stabilizer underneath.
- Join the applique and checkerboard sections. Add each of the three borders, putting corner squares on the shorter top and bottom strips.
- Press the top, layer it with batting and backing, and quilt. Trim, bind and add a label.
