Description:

Tiled in Indigo forms a mosaic from quarter-square triangle units with small sewn-and-flipped corners. Full and partial blocks combine with pieced sashing and cornerstones, allowing the fabric combinations to vary within the planned layout. Kerri Thomson designed the advanced-beginner project using Palette Indigo fabrics by Tim Holtz. The quilt finishes at 72 by 84 inches, with eighteen-inch finished full blocks and diagrams for building the center, sashing rows and outer block rows.

Tiled in Indigo Free Quilt Pattern by Kerri Thomson quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut the quarter-square triangles, small squares, sashing rectangles and binding strips. Handle the short bias edges of the triangles carefully to prevent stretching.
  2. Sew four triangles into each square unit, then add the corner squares with diagonal sew-and-flip seams. Combine these units into the full and partial blocks.
  3. Piece the cornered sashing units, join them into the three sashing lengths and make the cornerstones. Keep the finished components separated for the assembly stages.
  4. Build the center and side sections, then add the sashing rows and top and bottom block rows. Layer, quilt and finish the binding on the back.
