Tula Pink Fabric FAQ

Are Tula Pink solids true to color and good as backgrounds?+

Most reviewers say yes. Quilters describe Designer Essential Solids as rich, true colors that work well as backgrounds and backings. Screens vary, though: one reviewer found Parrot Blue more teal in person, and one found Arctic White had a slight gray tint, so read the reviews for the exact color if you are matching an existing quilt.

How do Designer Essential Solids compare to other premium solids?+

Designer Essential Solids are FreeSpirit solids, including Tula Pink colors like Cosmo and Cricket. One reviewer who usually sews with Art Gallery PURE Solids said they have the same hand and density, and another compared black solids from several shops and kept only this one for its deep color and slightly denser weave. A couple of reviewers found lighter colors such as Winter White thinner than expected.

What does a white-on-white or low-volume Tula print look like?+

Look at Tula Pink's Linework collection: geometric, floral and abstract prints in monochrome colors, such as Linework Tent Stripe Paper (alternating black and white stripes). These quieter prints sit between bold Tula prints the way a background fabric would.

Who manufactures Tula Pink fabric?+

Tula Pink designs her quilting cotton for FreeSpirit Fabrics, and nearly all of the Tula fabric on this page is made by FreeSpirit. The notions here come from her partners: Renaissance Ribbons for woven ribbon, Aurifil for thread, and her own Tula Pink Hardware line of scissors and snips.
