Sewing Light FAQ
Which LED bulb fits my machine: push-in or screw-in?
Sewing machine bulbs come with two kinds of base. A push-in (bayonet) bulb pushes in and twists to lock, using a B15 bayonet base. A screw-in bulb threads in like a household bulb, using a smaller E17 screw-in base. Check your sewing machine manual, or look at the bulb you're replacing, before ordering. Our Push-In LED Bulb and Screw-In LED Bulb both have 64 LEDs and run on 120V at 2 watts.
How can I tell which base my old bulb has?
Look at the metal base of your old bulb. If it's smooth with two small pins on the sides, it's a push-in (bayonet) bulb. If it has spiral threads, it's a screw-in bulb. Singer Featherweight 221 and 222K machines take a push-in bulb; see our Featherweight LED Bulb.
Do LED sewing machine bulbs get hot?
No. LED bulbs stay cool to the touch, so they won't warm your hands or fabric, and they give a brighter, cooler-toned light than the original incandescent bulbs.
How long does a rechargeable clip-on light last?
It depends on the brightness setting. The Missouri Star LED Clip-On Light charges over USB-C and has three light settings. Customers say a charge lasts about an hour and a half, so keep the cable nearby for long sewing sessions.
