The 8 Most-Reviewed Products of September 2026
8 products · 8 min read
Every month we read thousands of your reviews to find the products that made sewing rooms happiest. September had a clear theme: getting ready. Fall projects, holiday gifts and retreat season all showed up in what you wrote.
Here are the eight products you wrote about most last month, in your own words — what you made with them, who you made it for, and why you went back for more.
The short version
- BLOCK Magazine Volume 13 Issue 4 — the most-reviewed item of the month, by a wide margin.
- Clips, thread and blades — the everyday notions you restock again and again.
- Zipper cases and a vintage clip tin — retreat season and early Christmas shopping, both underway.
- Night Owl Tiles — the fall fabric you couldn’t stop sewing.
Key Takeaways
- BLOCK is still the one to beat. Readers get inspired with each issue.
- Stock up on the basics before the holidays. Clips, neutral thread, and fresh blades top almost every list for a reason.
- Retreat season is here. Zipper cases came up again and again as the way to pack machine feet, bobbins, and tools.
- Gift shopping started early. The clip tin, zipper cases, and storage bags all landed in gift plans.
- Fall fabric sells through fast. If Night Owl Tiles caught your eye, don’t wait too long.

“Perfect for patriotic quilts”
I'm using it for a Great America birthday quilt. I'm using it for a baby quilt started for a baby just new, they named her America Sue, using all patriotic fabric. I like the abstract design. I like the finished quilt picture.
— Anne
“Inspiring projects and ideas”
I enjoy the ideas and people's journeys in the magazine. I enjoyed the Africa experience. I use it for table runners, including the Garden District Table Runner. I also use it for other projects right now, including a log cabin baby quilt for my new great granddaughter and a prayer quilt. I stay busy.
— Pamela
“Timeless patterns in BLOCK Magazine”
I always love BLOCK Magazine, and so many times I'm going back to find patterns in them several years after they were printed. Usually, a quilt I’ve seen already done somewhere, and so I’m trying to go back and find the pattern so I can duplicate or make my own. I don’t know what this particular volume was.

I like how easy they are to use. I use them for holding pieces together, use when putting binding on, and there are lots of ways to use them.
— Pam
“Versatile clips for every use”
I love your super quick shipping always! I use the clips all over the house, not just for sewing and crafting. I use them to close potato chip bags, instead of paper clips, and I use them for a bookmark.

I like the good strong thread and the good colors. I'm using it for quilting. I make large quilts and I really enjoy making religious wall hangings. It didn’t matter if I was putting on a border or quilting a design, the thread was just great.
— Mary-Catherine Gomez
“Perfect for retreats and gifting”
I generally use large cones for piecing, but this size doesn’t require a thread stand and therefore good for traveling to retreats and gifting to friends. I have a few retreats planned for this fall.
— Cheryl
It is quality thread, and I got it at a very good price. The color pack was great, as they were all commonly used colors. It is well worth the money. I even bought a second one for my granddaughter who is learning to sew.

Missouri Star Ultimate Rotary Blade Pack
Replacement blades in all three rotary sizes
★★★★★
$49.95
Fresh blades for the 28mm, 45mm and 60mm cutters in one pack. Makers use the small one for curves and paper piecing, the 45mm for everyday cutting, and the 60mm for batting and squaring up.

“Perfect rotary blade pack for quilting”
A great way to cover blades for all three sizes in my arsenal at once! I use the 45 for cutting most quilt pieces. The 60 is at my large table for trimming the edges as I square up a finished quilt. The 28 works well when I am foundation paper piecing.
— Ann
“Versatile blades for all my projects”
I like the great value. I use the smaller blades in my smallest rotary cutter for tighter curves on the MSQC Templates. I use the 45mm blades for everyday quilting projects and the 60mm blades for cutting quilt batting for quilt projects. It powers through thick fleece too!
— Tamela
“Comfortable and effective rotary blades”
I ❤️MSQ rotary blades, especially when they are on sale! They glide through the fabric❤️. I have been quilting for 45 years, so I have tried many brands of rotary blades and will keep using MSQ. I use all 3 sizes depending on project. I especially like the MSQ 60mm cutter. It is so comfortable in my hand.

“Perfect for quilters and travelers”
Christmas shopping starts early! These are just perfect for quilters, travelers, or anybody! I even bought one for me! I use them for pre-wound bobbins and pre-cut fabrics I am accumulating for a sampler quilt. They are handy little cases. I may need to buy more!
— Aletha
“Great for organizing quilt scraps”
I'm using 1 set for me and not exactly sure how I'll use them yet. I'm using 2 sets for different friends as gifts. I currently use old cigar boxes and thought these might also be useful for quilt scraps, etc. I like the fact that they're secured with a zipper.
— cathy
“Perfect gift for quilters”
I'm using it as a gift. I belong to a longarm quilter’s group, and we have a Christmas luncheon and gift exchange every year.
— Jerri
Night Owl Tiles
10″ squares of vivid owl and pumpkin prints
★★★★★
$48.95
Owls, pumpkins, and saturated fall color in 10″ squares. Makers turned it into fall quilts, table runners, and, in one case, a giant patchwork bow.
Shop Night Owl TilesFeatured customer reviews
The colors are vivid, and there are lots of owl prints in the collection. I made a big bow. I cut 4 - 4 1/2 inch blocks from the 10 inch squares. The bow took 75 - 4 1/2 inch blocks to make the patchwork panels for the bow and tails. I used a solid fabric for the back. I like the way it turned out.
— Marion
“Beautiful layer cake for creative projects”
I think it is the prettiest layer cake bought. I'm using it for a Jenny DOAN Irish change quilt. I love owls, and orange always gets my attention. I'm using it for a Halloween themed next.
— Terry
“Beautiful assortment for quilting”
I like the beautiful assortment. I found a matching panel, I will be making a fall quilt with it!
— Mary
Missouri Star King & Queen Quilt Storage Bag Pack - Aqua
King and queen quilt storage bags
★★★★★
$24.95
Two big storage bags for finished quilts. Makers store their favorites in them, and send gift quilts home in one, so the recipient knows how to look after it.
Shop the storage bagsFeatured customer reviews
“Perfect for quilt storage and gifting”
I'm using it to store my finished quilts and as a gift with a quilt when given to family. The recipients don't always know how to store it when not in use.
— Kathy
I love to have various sizes of these bags on hand. They are well made and very sturdy. I use them to store my quilts, to store projects in progress as I work on them, to be the neat and attractive carrier for a quilt I am gifting. My “go to” for many things.
— Margaret
“perfect fit”
I wanted something to store my king size quilts that I made while not in use and at the time I ordered this pack it was cheaper to get the K & Q pack than to get a single king size. My big oversized quilts fit perfectly in the bag. I have gotten to packs and use both kings now I need to make queen size quilts to use the smaller bag!
— Diane Barnhart
A tip from the notions wall: Planning gifts? The products on this list that quilters buy for other quilters are the clip tin, the zipper cases, and the storage bags. They’re useful, they’re pretty, and nobody ever has too many.
One more thing you loved in September isn’t on this list because you can’t put it on a shelf: our machine quilting service. Send us a finished top, and the quilters here in Hamilton will quilt it for you — the reviews are some of the happiest we get.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you decide which products make this list?
By how many reviews each product received during the month. We group every approved September 2026 review by product, rank them, and leave out anything that’s out of stock when we publish so you don’t click through to a sold-out page.
Why isn’t my favorite on the list?
It may be sold out. In September, our Best Blend Queen batting and the Spellbound Sue Embroidery Kit would have made the list, but neither is in stock right now.
Are these reviews from real customers?
Yes. Every review here comes from a verified Missouri Star order — the request goes out after your order ships, so the reviewer had the product in hand. Quotes are trimmed for length only.
How do I choose between two products that both look good?
Read what customers say they made with each one. A review that describes a finished quilt tells you more than any star rating.
Can I review something I bought months ago?
Yes. Every order page has a review link, and reviews take just a couple of minutes. Photos of your finished project are always welcome.
