Dating all the way back to the Roman Empire, the classic herringbone pattern was often displayed in brick roadways. Herringbone gets its name from the distinctive V-shaped pattern that resembles the bones of a herring fish. It is typically woven in a zigzag or chevron pattern, with a series of diagonal lines that intersect to form the herringbone pattern. Today, this interlocking pattern is woven into textiles to create striking visual textures and comes in a variety of colors, weights and fibers.
