"I’ve purchased three quilt wall products over the years and this is by far the best. It is much better at holding fabric pieces and is more stable. Others were too flimsy or thin. I’m thrilled with this one! I use it to make sure I’m following the pattern before I sew it together. I’m also discovering new patterns as I go."

Missouri Star Quilt Wall: A Design Wall for Laying Out Your Blocks

The Missouri Star Quilt Wall gives quilters a place to lay out blocks and see the whole quilt before a single seam is sewn. Reviewers describe it as a practical stand-in for floor layout, and many say it makes their planning simpler.

Customers say the flannel surface holds fabric and blocks in place without pins, so it is easy to step back, study the arrangement, and move pieces around until the block placement looks right.

What it's like to use

One reviewer says the wall helped her confirm block orientation while following a pattern, and another describes being able to "clearly see how it will look" before sewing. Customers also say that moving pieces around is simple, so fine-tuning a design takes less effort than it would on the floor.

Who it suits

Reviewers describe the wall as a good fit for smaller sewing spaces. Several say it can be hung when needed and folded away afterward, which makes it useful for a pop-up sewing room or a hallway setup. One reviewer, who has joint problems, says it spared her and her partner the difficulty of kneeling on the floor to lay out squares.

What customers make with it

Buyers mention working on table runners, twin-size quilts, and a wide range of pattern-based projects. Many say it is just as helpful for color placement and for experimenting with new designs as they go.

I love being able to put my blocks on the wall and see how it looks before sewing.

It’s a nice size and the printed grid is very helpful. I used command hooks to hang it on a bedroom wall. It gripped well even with the ceiling fan on. I’m sewing them together for a quilt.

Good for layout, but has limitations

I use it for hanging quilt pieces to view layout before sewing. The flannel grip works better than expected but not as well as I’d hoped. I keep reattaching. It varies depending on how well the piece ‘sticks’ and how many I need to adjust. I also wish the rivets were in the opposite direction. When securing to the wall, the length of the quilt pattern needs to be vertical. To do this, the rivets are along the side instead of across the top.

Fantastic Quilt Wall

I needed a new one since the gromets had been pulled out of the old one. It fits my wall space beautifully! The wider width( versus the longer length of the old one) makes so much more of the area usable. I love it!

Love this quilt wall!

This wall hangs behind me while I’m sewing. It’s large enough to lay out a large quilt and the fabric sticks to it without needing pins.

Awesome Quilt Wall

Since I accidentally used my last one as batting, I was in need of a new one and I didn’t realize how valuable the new one would be until I recently used it. First of all, because of the color and design, it won’t be confused with batting. Second, I loved how you could hang it. With the grommets, there’s no pulling away. Third, with the grid lines, it’s easier to use. Fourth, the fabric adheres to it much better.

Great for teaching quilting

I like it for use in my teaching space. Students can put their pieces up without pins so they can stand back to look at it from a distance. It lets them look at it as a whole quilt without crawling around on the floor to lay it out. It is about 6’ long and 5’ wide.

Great way to lay out pieces or blocks without getting on the floor.

The quilt wall hangs nicely in a hallway that is used quite regularly. The blocks in the photo have held up for weeks.

Love it,

I actually put it on top of the white one I purchased from MSQ. I love the blue. The graph marks and grommets are great. A design wall is a great tool. You should have one.

What would I do without it?

I absolutely love my quilt wall. I put it up with command hooks and it has served me well in designing quilts, especially since I do a lot of scrappy ones.

Great for organizing quilt designs

It is well made and a good size to design on. I'm laying out rows of hexagons and the grid helps to maintain order.
