Chenille sewing needles by John James are large eye needles that are identical to tapestry or cross stitch needles in length and diameter. However, chenilles have a sharp point, rather than a round and blunt point, and they are often used for embroidery. Originally they were used for chenille work, hence the name. But we find them perfect for tying quilts! John James needles are the highest quality English needles.
These needles seem to be of very good quality. I haven’t used them yet. I was hopeful that the eye on them would be bigger. I hand tie my quilts, I am 75 years old and my eyes are not what they used to be, even with my glasses..

Big eye needles to help ease the threading for older fingers and visual disability
Started to do tie quilting for small lap quilts to be used for nursing homes in my area. One of the ladies who is helping in this project is visually disabled . We are marking the locations for where she would be placing the tie with safety pins. Then the it will be easier for her to locate where to put her big eye needle.
