Darker than appears

I bought this to go with a medium hue lavender. When it arrived, it overwhelmed the lavender. Even though it appears to be a medium blue, the paisley darkens it. It's a beautiful fabric and I have no doubt I can incorporate it into a future project. I just can't use it for the project for which I bought it.
