Description:

Sunshine Tablecloth & Topper pairs a 120-by-60-inch tablecloth with a 33-inch-square topper, designed by Lisa Swenson Ruble using the Sunshine collection by Sally Kelly. Both pieces feature fussy-cut outer borders with mitered corners surrounding fabric centers. The tablecloth also has a narrow Majorelle Blue inner border. This intermediate pattern includes separate cutting and assembly instructions for the two projects, with folded, topstitched hems finishing the outside edges of each piece.

Sunshine Tablecloth & Topper Free Pattern by Lisa Swenson Ruble quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut the tablecloth and topper centers, then fussy-cut their outer-border strips. Use the cutting diagram to keep the printed design positioned consistently along the strips.
  2. Sew the narrow inner-border strips to the short sides of the tablecloth center, then to the long sides. The topper uses its square center without this inner border.
  3. Center and sew the tablecloth's outer borders to its long sides, then its short sides, leaving the corner seam allowances free. Miter the corners and finish the outer edge with a twice-folded, topstitched hem.
  4. Attach the topper's border strips to opposite sides of its center square, then to the remaining sides. Miter the corners, fold the outside edge under twice and topstitch the hem to finish.
