Even though I haven’t had a baby in what feels like a lifetime, I LOVE to look through baby name books. I think it’s so fun that all our names have meanings hidden in their history. Some are lovely (Alice means “noble” and “kind”) and some are a bit eyebrow-raising (Mallory means “unlucky.”)
Hilda is a name with a bit of a surprising meaning, but I am a big fan. It comes from Old Norse and it means “battle maiden.” It conjures images of a courageous Viking woman ready to ride into battle.
Tackling a quilting project may not exactly be “battle,” but I definitely want to be armed with all the best and strongest on my side.
