Cloud 9 Fabrics is an organic fabric company founded in 2009 by Gina Pantastico and Michelle Engel-Bencsko. Both women had previously worked in the garment industry and noticed that organic fabric options were limited and typically only offered in drab prints. They saw a niche in the market for quilters and sewists who wanted organic fabric in stylish, colorful patterns, so they decided to join forces and launch Cloud Nine Fabrics to fill the gap!

Cloud 9 Fabrics uses only 100% certified organic cotton and eco-responsible, low-impact dyes in the manufacture of their quilting cloth. They also work closely with the mills that manufacture their quilt fabric to assure ethical and responsible conduct toward individuals and the environment.

Cloud Nine organic fabric is styled by designers who create fresh, funky collections of prints in vivid palettes. Many of these collections have nature themes, floral designs, and art deco elements - all with a modern twist. All of the prints in collections for Cloud 9 fabrics are designed to work together–specifically for quilting.

Cloud Nine Fabrics primarily focuses its efforts on quilter’s weight cotton. However, they also produce other types of organic fabrics. For example, Cloud 9 Canvas fabric is available in a nice selection of solid colors and in some prints. Cloud 9 Fabric collections are also printed in cotton sateen, flannel, corduroy, cotton duck, barkcloth, and laminated cloth, although some of these fabric types are not always offered year-round, or available for all print collections.

You can’t buy Cloud 9 Fabric directly from the manufacturer; however, the Cloud 9 Fabrics website has some great project ideas and free patterns.
